What looks like a candy bar, tastes like a candy bar, but is so much better for you than any candy bar?  A Dr. Soy protein bar.  In four tasty varieties, the standouts to my taste buds are the chocolate peanut (think Reese's Peanut Butter cups) and chocolate mint (think girl scout thin mint cookies).  They are truly scrumptious and, to me, the most delicious bars on the market, bumping my prior favorite Luna Bars (yes even chocolate peppermint stick), to second place.

I love the fact that they are made with non-GMO soy (non-Genetically modified soy), and each bar is a great source of healthy soy protein (10 grams in one shot in the chocolate peanut flavor which is nearly half the recommended 25 grams daily for heart health benefits).  The fat content is just 4 grams and you also get 100% of the daily value of 16 vitamins and minerals including folate for my female readers of child-bearing age.  Just be sure to budget the 185 calories into your daily allotment.  I'll have it often as a mid-afternoon snack and sometimes with a piece of fruit for a fast, nutritious lunch on the go.

If you have never tried any soy item before, a Dr. Soy bar would be a good first step.  If you do like soy-based products, you're never going to believe that this is soy!  And your kids, grandkids and the other children in your life will absolutely believe they are candy (just be sure to give them the right size portion for their age because they don't make a "fun" size).
